The Iowa State Patrol Thursday finally issued a report of a traffic accident involving personal injury to a Cherokee woman in a collision that occurred about 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22.
According to the Patrol, a vehicle driven by Beverly Ann Stines, 51, of Cherokee, was southbound on Riverview Drive and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Riverview Drive and the Iowa Highway 3 by-pass, colliding with a westbound tractor-trailer driven by Larry Allen Lundeen, 72, of Pomeroy.
The Stines vehicle was struck on the driver's side and she was ejected from the vehicle at impact, according to the investigating State Trooper. Stines was transported to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center by ambulance, and then airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Authorities at Mercy Medical Center would not release any patient information for Stines when contacted Friday.
