Vera Jean Northcraft passed away peacefully on January 3, 2011 in Tucson, Arizona.
Vera was born on June 16, 1924 in Kirksville, Mo. She married Robert Northcraft and they moved to Cherokee to raise their family. After their family was raised and Robert had retired from teaching, the couple moved to Tucson in 1990. She was known as "Jean the Kitchen Queen" for her culinary skills which included baking delicious pies, cinnamon rolls and butterhorns.
She was also the secretary for the Cherokee County Red Cross for several years. While living in Tucson, she began to pursue her lifelong passion for painting, taking watercolor classes at Pima Community College and became an accomplished painter.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Mark and James and her daughter Julie. She had three terrific grand children Hilary, Hailey and Lukas. She was a generous, supportive and loving mother and grandma.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X. The address is 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo Tucson, AZ 85715 with interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
