At 7:42 a.m. on Monday, the Cherokee Sheriff's Department responded to an accident on Highway 59.
Jacquelyn Kay Courtright 63, Cherokee, was southbound on Highway 59, when she lost control of her vehicle on the snowy roads. The vehicle entered the west ditch and continued to slide into a tree. According to the authorities, Courtright was trapped in the vehicle and received incapacitating injuries. She was freed by the Quimby Fire Department and transported to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
Courtright's vehicle was considered to be a total loss.
