Esther Marian Moritz,the daughter of John and Sophie (Scherner) Moritz, was born on Oct. 25, 1919 near Remsen. Billie was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, and she attended rural school near her home and high school in Remsen. She would later work at Royer's Jewelry Store in Cherokee for several years.
On Jan. 14, 1942, Billie and Aaron Waller were united in marriage in Cherokee. Following Aaron's service in the United States Army, the couple engaged in farming in Tilden Township, rural Marcus, for 60 years. Aaron passed away on Jan. 13, 2002.
Billie was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, rural Marcus. She was Past Worthy Matron and Past Grand Representative of the Order of the Eastern Star. Billie is presently a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling and gathering genealogy history. Most of all,though,she enjoyed the time spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Aaron; and three sisters, Evelyn (August) Hansen, Eleanor (Sylvester) Oehlerts and Eleane (Norbert) Kellen and their spouses.
Billie will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Richard A. Waller and his wife Karleen of Dakota Dunes, S.D. and Neal J. Waller and his wife Deb of Marcus; a daughter, Marlene K. Larson and her husband Keith of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Chris Waller and his wife April of Cherryville, N.C., Chantelle Waller of Remsen, Danielle Waller and her fiancÚ Greg Seier of Crete, Neb., Scott Waller and his wife Renee of Longmont, Colo. and Brian Waller and his wife Callie of Des Moines; nine great-grandchildren - Kraig, Kipp, Kayla and Kora Alesch, Matthew, Joseph and Sarah Grace Waller, Preston and Braxton Waller; and several nieces and nephews.
