On Thursday, March 24 Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation, ISU Extension - Cherokee County and First Cooperative Association are sponsoring a "Farm Succession Workshop" in conjunction with Farm Financial Strategies, Inc.
This informative session will be free of charge. It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Western Iowa Tech Community College, Cherokee Campus in Room #301.
Farm Financial Strategies, Inc. is one of the leading educators in the area of farm succession and estate tax issues. Topics that will be covered are: farm continuation strategies with case samples, estate tax and unified credit, estate shrinkage, probate, wills and trusts, asset ownership, gifting and gift taxes, special use valuation, and 1031 exchanges.

Also, coming up on Wednesday, March 30 is the 2011 Midstates Community and Economic Development Conference. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Marina Inn in S.Sioux City, Neb. This annual conference is jam-packed with information about communities from the tri-state area.
