Cherokee Tomahawk Relays

The fields are set for this week's 2011 Cherokee Tomahawk Relays, with 17 boys teams comprising two classes, and 21 girls teams in two classes.

For the first time in history, the boys meet is scheduled for Thursday, April 7, instead of the normal Saturday date, due to several Saturday scheduling conflicts involving other school-related activities.

The girls meet is on for Friday, April 8, with both boys and girls meets beginning at 5 p.m. at George Hicks Field.

The boys Class 1A Field, with current enrollment numbers for the top three grades included, are Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn (128), Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (155), South O'Brien (157), Ridge View (185), Alta-Aurelia (189), Sioux Central (191), Cherokee (237), Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove (239), and Kingsley-Pierson/Woodbury Central (246).

The boys Class 2A Field includes MOC-Floyd Valley (312), Spirit Lake Park (361), Sioux City Heelan (377), Spencer (486), Le Mars (499), Storm Lake (522), Sioux City West (984), and Sioux City North (1,191).

In the girls competition in Class 1A are MMC, Central Lyon (148), Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer (154), HMS, SOS, Emmetsburg (168), Ridge View, A-A, Sioux Central, East Sac County (218), Cherokee, OA-BCIG and Estherville-LC (276).

The girls Class 2A Field includes MOC-FV, SLP, S.C. Heelan, Spencer, Le Mars, Storm Lake, S.C. West, and S.C. North.
