MARCUS - The Marcus P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) FM Chapter is holding it's third fundraiser to provide scholarships to MMC graduates on Saturday, April 9, at the Faith Lutheran Church serving a brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The group will be serving egg bakes, fruit cups and breads along with coffee. Tickets are $6 sold by P.E.O. members or at the door.

Local members of the P.E.O. are Sue Pearson, Kate Ogren, Gloria Strub, Barb Knutson, Nancy Hier, Shelley Steffens, Gloria Geerdes, Cindy Stevenson and Jan Drefke.

Raffle tickets are $3 each or two for $5 which will be sold at the door. This year instead of raffling purses, the group has decided to go with gift baskets. Each specialty basket has a theme which designates the types of items found in the basket. The four gift baskets theme center on car, wine, personal and coffee. These baskets will be on display to be looked over.

Last year's scholarship winners were Melissa Tabke and Sarah Olson. Each year the group hopes to offer two scholarships to MMC graduates.

The P.E.O. group started very small, seven members at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa which has now grown to a quarter of a million members in chapters across the country. The group promotes educational opportunities for women.
