Eagles third in MMC Co-Ed Relays

Dreckman earns four first-place finishes

MARCUS - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys and girls track and field teams each placed third in Tuesday's MMC Co-Ed Relays here, with Erica Dreckman leading the MMC girls with an eye-popping four first-place finishes.

Woodbury Central/Kingsley-Pierson won the girls team title with 161 points, followed by Resmen St. Mary's 146, MMC 140, Akron-Westfield 85, and Granville Spalding 18.

WC-KP also won the boys team crown with 239 points, followed by A-W 138, MMC 107, RSM 17, and Spalding 14.

Dreckman stole the show with her three individual firsts and as anchor leg on the winning spring medley unit. She clocked 13.3 to win the 100 meters, 26.9 to win the 200 meters, and 1:04.4 to claim the 400 meters.

She then team with Carly Lehnhoff, Nicki Schwarz, and Amanda Hoefling to win the sprint medley in a time of 2:01.9.

Other firsts for the Lady Eagles were Brandi Orr's 93-6 discus throw; the distance medley relay of Lehnhoff, Sarah Bird, Amanda Hoefling, and Sydney Roberts timed in 4:51.4; and the 4x800 relay of Bird, Heather Hoefling, Roberts, and Schwarz timed in 11:08.7.

MMC's 4x400 relay of Lehnhoff, Roberts, Schwarz, and Amanda Hoefling was second in 4:40. Orr also copped second in the shot put with a 27-10 effort.

MMC thirds went to Schwarz with a 2:43.6 clocking in the 800 meters, Anna Wilcox's 14.20 time in the 3000 meters, Lehnhoff's 14.3 time in the 100 meters, and Amanda Hoefling's 29.2 time in the 200 meters.

"Little things make a difference," noted MMC girls coach Ric Collins. "What you learn this meet will improve your next meet."

The MMC boys had three firsts, with Andrew Hoefling winning the 200 meters in a time of 24.57; the 4x200 relay of Hoefling, Dalton Brady, Tanner Utesch, and Neial Bunt winning in 1:37.8; and the 4x400 relay of Blake Erdman, Brady, Hoefling, and Bunt winning in 3:45.6.

The 4x100 relay was second in 3:55, with Erdman, Brady, Bunt, and Zach Specht aboard; Erdman was second in the 400 meters in 54.43; and Dylan Spieler second in the high jump with a 5-2 leap.

Utesch was third in the 100 meters in 12.63; as was the Eagles' 4x800 relay of Zack Kellog, Ben Brady, Mitch Brady, and Colin Sears timed in 10:20; the shuttle hurdle relay of Reece Jackson, Erik Nelson, Jacob Letsche, and Reuter timed in 1:11; and the 4x100 relay of Utesch, Michael Deichmann, Sears, and Spieler timed in 50.66.
