The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met with several Cherokee County officers on Tuesday to review changes to the County's Personnel Policy.
The top issue was compliance, with recommendations from the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP) regarding the county's Driver Safety Policy and Proof of Liability Coverage. Scott Weber of Central Insurance Agency informed the department heads to take the recommendations seriously, and have all employees comply with this request.
Also on the Board's agenda was Barb Staver of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department, who delivered her department's Quarterly Revenue Report. The report stated that $38,888 stays in Cherokee County and the Board approved the report.
Cherokee County Engineer Dave Shanahan requested a zoning change from residential to commercial. The Cherokee County Zoning Board had already approved the change for Lucas Edwards of Washta and the Board then added its approval.
Shanahan also brought two underground utility permits for Iowa Lakes Electric Coop in Sections 2 and 33 of Tilden Township to the Board. The Board approved the permits.
The Board also approved the use of Linden Street and S Avenue as a detour for the annual Cherokee Chamber of Commerce's PRCA Rodeo Parade, that will be held on June 4 this year. The parade route runs from Washington High School to the County fairgrounds on U.S. Highway 59.
The Board also approved Resolution #2011-4, which was a notice for the destruction of noxious weeds.
The Board canvassed the April 5 Northwest Iowa Community College (NICC) Special Bond Election with 112 total votes cast. 74 votes were "yes" and 38 votes were "No."
