WHS girls tennis team falls at E-LC

ESTHERVILLE - The Cherokee Washington High girls dropped an abbreviated 6-2 Lakes Conference tennis meet at Estherville-LC Monday night after rains halted play in several matches under way.

In varsity singles action for Cherokee, Sarah Ruehle lost 10-3 to Erin Oldon at #1, Amber Haupert fell 10-3 to Corin Swalve at #2, Denise Freed beat Allison Hevern 10-3 at #3, Anna Lehrach beat Amanda Heinrichs 10-2 at #4, Taylor Meyerhofer lost 10-6 to Bailey Hagen at #5, and Shelby Bingham fell 10-4 to Tessa Bernholtz at #6.

In varsity doubles, Ruehle and Meyerhofer lost 10-3 to Olson and Swalve at #1, and Lehrich and Freed lost 10-6 to Heinrichs and Bernholtz 10-6 at #3. Haupert and Emily Estala trailed 4-1 at #2 doubles when rain canceled the match.

In JV singles action for Cherokee, Estala lost 8-6 at #1, Nicole Kellen lost 8-4 at #2, Brianna Fowler lost 8-6 at #3, and MiKaela Booth won 8-6 at #4. Rachel Corkin's singles match at #5, and Brooke Luetkeman's at #6 were rained out.

In JV doubles, all three matches were rained out.

The Cherokee girls host Le Mars in further Lakes Conference play Monday night.
