This month Cherokee County joined communities across the country to pay tribute to the value of creating healthy families. Raising children in safe and nurturing environments is a primary component of these families. The month of April is nationally dedicated to raising awareness of child abuse prevention.
"Prevent Child Abuse Iowa works with Cherokee County Planning Council and several local programs and entities year-round to increase awareness among community leaders and families about the importance of raising children free from abuse," stated Steve Scott, Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Iowa.
"April's activities are a fun, interactive reminder that it's truly everyone's responsibility to keep Iowa's children safe," said Scott.
Cherokee County Programs & Entities involved in the PCA Iowa activity of posting the annual "April is Child Abuse Prevention Month" sign include Cherokee Family Circles, Cherokee County Family Treatment Court, Northwest Iowa Parent Partners Program, Cherokee County Public Health, Cherokee Regional Medical Center, the Cherokee Elevate Chapter, and other community members.
