STORM LAKE - A 14-year-old boy has been charged by Storm Lake Police with Terroristic Threats, a Class D Felony.
Tanner Galbraith, 14, of Storm Lake, was charged about 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee, pending a court date. The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court System.
According to Police, Galbraith allegedly made two bomb threats Wednesday, the first at Storm Lake Middle School where a written note was found at 9:44 a.m. School officials evacuated the Middle School and the nearby Storm Lake Elementary School was placed on lock down status.
Firefighters, police, and school officials searched the school and did not locate any type of threatening device. Students were allowed to return to the school about two hours later.
About 12:50 p.m. the Storm Lake Police and Firefighters were dispatched to the Storm Lake High School for a bomb threat there after school officials located a written message stating a bomb may go off. In addition, the Iowa Central Community College was evacuated as it is connected to the east end of the high school. Students were evacuated.
Firefighters, police, and school officials searched the school and did not locate any type of threatening device. Students were allowed to return to the high school and ICCC facility about two hours later.
The Storm Lake Public Safety Deaprtment (Police and Fire) was assisted at the two scenes by school administrators and staff, the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Department, The Iowa State Patrol, and the BV County Paramedics.
