Sorority announces scholarship

The local chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, Honorary Sorority of Educators, is pleased to announce the 2011 scholarships to the following college graduates:

Amanda Schwarz, graduate of Morningside College who majored in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement, and whose parents are John and Connie Schwarz of Cherokee.

Shannon Chaffin, graduate of Morningside College who majored in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement,, and a minor in Psychology, whose parents are Brian and Teri Chaffin of Cherokee.

Shana Kai, graduate of Buena Vista University who majored in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement, whose parents are Jeff and Cindy Kai of Aurelia.

The Cherokee Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is an honorary sorority of educators who seek to encourage prospective teachers through these scholarships. Each will be provided with a $200 check by Alpha Delta Kappa to begin their teaching careers.
