H. Maxine Johnson, 92, of Yuma, Ariz. passed away on May 2, 2011. Her celebration of life was held at the Gloria de Cristo Lutheran Church on May 9 with Pastor Bill Timm officiating. There will be a family prayer service at Larrabee in Cedar Cemetery at a later date.
Maxine was born on March 29, 1919 at Larrabee, to John and Ruth Wilkie. She attended and graduated from the Larrabee Consolidated School. She married Marion (Toby) Urban on June 3, 1939. To this union were born two sons, Larry and Jerry Urban. Maxine later married Lester Johnson of Sausolito, Calif. Maxine and Lester lived in Medford, Oregon and wintered in Yuma for many years, later moving there permanently. They were very active in the Gloria de Cristo Church, and Maxine continued with her work there until the time of her death.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Gladys Cleaver, and two brothers, John of Larrabee and Jim of Chicago, Ill.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry and Joanne of Rohnert park, Calif., and Larry of Petaluma, Calif., seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Elaine of Boone, and two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Wilkie of Cherokee and Patricia Wilkie of Algonquin, Ill.
