The National Association of Letter Carriers' 19th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place this Saturday, May 14th.

The NALC's drive is the largest one-day collection of food in the world, and last year 77 million pounds of food were collected in the United States. Over 2000 pounds were collected in Cherokee County last year and this Saturday, residents of Cherokee, Aurelia, Quimby, Cleghorn, Larrabee, Meriden and Marcus are encouraged to bag non-perishable food items and leave them at their mailbox where Cherokee County letter carriers will pick them up and distribute them to the food bank at Mid Sioux Opportunities. All of the donated items from Cherokee County will be distributed by Mid-Sioux to their Cherokee County clients.

Mid-Sioux Director Joan Forcier said the clients are really in need of these food items at this time of the year and will be very much appreciated by all.
