SOS boys second in Wolverine Meet

Host South O'Brien placed second to potent Orange City Unity Christian in the boys portion of the 2011 South O'Brien Wolverine Relays run on the Cherokee Washington High track Friday night.

The Knights tallied 153 pointds, followed by the Wolverines 128, Clay Central Everly 123, Alta-Aurelia 55, Newell-Fonda 52, and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 43.

The SOS boys rang up four firsts, with Ben Wagner winning the high jump with a school record 6-6 leap, the shuttle hurdle relay clocked in 1:06, the 4x100 relay timed in 45.56, and the 4x200 relay in a time of 1:34.

Seconds went to the 4x400 relay in 3:38, the 4x800 relay in 9:14, the distance medley in 3:59, and Dillon Zimmer in the 200 meters in 22.94.

Other place winners for SOS were the 4x100 relay third in 54.39, the 4x400 relay third in 4:01, Cole Ebel third in the 100 meters in 11.87 and sixth in the long jump with 17-3 1/2, John Gray sixth in the 100 meters in 12.09, Hunter Fiddelke third in the 200 meters in 24.14, Drew Johannsen third in the 110 meter hurdles in 16.02 and sixth in the 800 meters in 2:21, Matt Devos fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 59.84, Kody Nelson fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:05, Luke Holger third in the 3200 meters in 11:18 and fourth in the 800 meters in 2:18, Sam Weber sixth in the 3200 in 11:48, Daniel Patterson fourth in the 1600 meters in 5:08, Nate Struve sixth in the 1600 in 5:20, Bret Puhrmann fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18-6, Zac Lund fourth in the shot put with a 40-0 heave, Will Friedrichsen fifth in the shot put with a 38-5 effort, Eric Magnussen fifth in the discus with a 120-0 throw, and Bryce Kelleher sixth in the discus with a 94-8 effort.

Top Alta-Aurelia finishes were first in the weight man's 4x100 in 53.27, fourth in the 4x400 relay in 3:40, fourth in the 4x200 relay in 1:45, sixth in the 4x100 in 49.26, third in the distance medley in 3:59, second in the shuttle hurdle in 1:06, AJ LAnge fourth in the high jump with a 5-10 leap and third in the long jump with an 18-9 1/2 leap, Ryan Friedrich fifth in the high jump with a 5-8 effort, Jalen Henningsen fourth in the 400 meters in 54.40, Austin Delp fifth in the 1600 meters in 5:08, Neil Marshall second in the 110 meter hurdles in 16.02 and third in the 400 hurdles in 59.61.
