"I'm really proud of our performance," said Cherokee coach Dave Zelle. "We endured the long road trip, an hour-long rain delay, and had to play without our #2, #3, and #8 players dur to various reasons, yet everyone stepped it up a notch. Kudos to all those who had to play up several spots in the lineup and did so with poise and confidence."

Against Spencer, Struck and Matt Enderlin teamed to win #1 doubles, and Conley won at #6 singles for the Braves lone wins.

"Spencer is very similar to us in level of experience," noted Zelle. "It was a very competitive meet, as indicated by the number of three-set matches. We just could not prevail in enough of the tiebreaks. We lacked that killer instinct to aggressively finish off an opponent once we had them on the ropes."

The Braves play in the Class 2A Districts today in Spencer.
