MARCUS - Hinton won the 2011 Boys Heartland Relays here Monday night, totaling 177 team points to runner-up Akron-Westfield's 106.
River Valley was third with 97, followed by host Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn 87, Storm Lake St. Mary's 28, Hull Trinity Christian 27, and West Sioux 10.
The MMC boys captured one first-place finish with the 4x400 relay of Andrew Hoefling, Dalton Brady, Tanner Utesch, and Neal Bunt clocking 3:42.
The MMC medley relay of Hoefling, Dalton Brady, Bunt, and Dylan Spieler was second in a time of 4:04; the 4x800 relay of Zach Kellog, Colin Sears, Spieler, and Ben Brady was second in 9:40; the 4x200 was third in 1:46 with Hoefling, Dalton Brady, Michael Deichmann, and Sears; the 4x100 was third in 51.27 with Reece Jackson, Sears, Deichmann, and Spieler aboard; and the shuttle hurdle was fourth in 1:13 with Jackson, Erik Nelson, Jacob Letsche, and Zac Reuter running.
Other individual placing for the Eagles were Levi Letsche third in the discus with a 119-1 throw and second in the shot put with a 42-10 1/2 effort, Ben Brady second in the 3200 meters in 12:42, Jackson third in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.14, and Bunt second in the 400 meters in 54.30.
For River Valley, the shuttle hurdle relay was second in 1:09, the medley third in 4:17, the 4x400 third in 3:56, the 4x100 fourth in 54.53, the 4x200 fourth in 1:50, and the 4x800 third in 10:01. No names were submitted for the River Valley relays teams.
Individual placings for the RV Wolverines were Tanner Cobb first in the shot put with a 45-3 1/2 heave, Dylan Fluke first in the 100 meters in 11.71 and first in the 100 meters in 23.43, and third in the 400 meters in 54.80, Zak Gander second in the high jump with a leap of 6-0 and second in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.12, and Adam Schirmer third in the 3200 meters in 12:55.
