The "Can You Canoe?" event held by the O'Brien County Conservation Board last fall was such a hit that it is back on the schedule this spring.

Paddling a smooth lake or a lazy river provides a different view on the world. The O'Brien County Conservation Board naturalist is offering an entry-level experience to the canoeing world. The event -- "Can You Canoe?" -- will be held on Tuesday, May 24 beginning at 6 p.m. at Dog Creek Park near Sutherland.

Kayaks will also be available at this event. If you haven't had an opportunity to try this outdoor skill, this would be a great opportunity to give kayaking a try.

The O'Brien County Conservation Board will provide paddles, canoes, kayaks, and life vests. All participants need to bring is their sense of adventure.

The program will begin with some canoeing and kayaking basics. Then people will glide into the lake to put their knowledge to the test.

The program is free to all, but space for is limited. Please contact the Prairie Heritage Center at 295-7200 for more information or to register.
