A-A Warrior lady golfers earn State berth

EMMETSBURG - The Alta-Aurelia girls finished second at the Regional Golf Tournament here on Monday, posting a team score of 400 to trail Regional champion Kuemper Catholic by 24 team strokes.

With their second place finish, the Warriors of Coach LeAnn Patton will join the champion Kuemper team in advancing to the Class 2A State Tournament. Alta-Aurelia edged Sioux Center by just two strokes, with Okoboji another three strokes behind.

Jordan Henningsen led the Warriors with an 18-hole score of 94, and she will advance to the state as an individual as well. Other A-A scores were April Goslinga, 97; Kelsi Snyder, 104; and Jennifer Jensen, 105. Courtney Van Haaften and Maddi Meier also played for the Warriors.

Meet medalist was Kelsey Faiserlick of Fort Dodge St. Edmond, who shot an 87, and other individuals who qualified for the State Meet include Amanda Raak of Sioux Center; Megan Myers of Emmetsburg; Megan Wiederin, Mara Masching and Morgan Naberhaus of Kuemper; and Alta-Aurelia's Jordan Henningsen.

The Class 2A State Tournament will be played on Tuesday May 31 and Wednesday June 1 at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
