Raptors turn triple play in 5th inning

CORRECTIONVILLE - Ridge View hurlers gave up just four hits, and their defense turned a rare triple play in the 5th inning, as the Raptors went on to record an 11-0 Western Valley Conference victory over River Valley here Tuesday in the season opener for both teams.

Ridge View coach Shannon Tesch felt that his team played well in all phases of the game - hitting, pitching and defense, adding that they were "very focused throughout the game." In addition to their triple play, the Raptors' defense turned two double plays in the game as well.

Heath Clark pounded a double and three singles to lead the Ridge View attack, driving in five runs in the process, and Seth Johnson added a double and single to the Raptors' nine-hit attack.

Josh Mohr pitched four innings to pick up the win.

Adam Schirmer had two of the Wolverines' four hits and Brennan Riedemann and Skylar Shever each had one.
