Ridge View Raptor girls over MNW

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

MANSON - The Ridge View softball team improved its record to 2-0 on the young season with a five-inning 14-2 win over Manson-NW Webster here on Thursday.

The Raptors pounded out 14 hits, led by Dana Hustedt, who went 4-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Emily Schiernbeck went 3-3 with two RBI, Ashlynn Blenner went 2-3, and Roxanne Grundemeier went 1-3 with a double and one RBI.

Picking up the win on the mound was Dana Hustedt, who pitched four innings and gave up two runs on five singles before Gretchen Kistenmacher came in and pitched one inning of scoreless relief.

Ridge View coach Scott Phelps felt that his team's hitting and pitching both showed improvement from their first game. Raptor hitters made good contact up and down the line-up, striking out only two times.

The Raptors play at Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto tonight.
