HOLSTEIN - Woodbury Central broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the top of the 4th inning and added another run in the 7th en route to a 5-2 Western Valley Conference victory here on Monday.
Ridge View coach Shannon Tesch said that wind was a big factor in the game, making fly balls tough to judge. "A couple more hits at certain times," said Tesch, "and the outcome could have gone the other way."
Kyle Wessling led the Raptors' offense with a 2 for 3 night at the plate, including a double. Wessling dove in both of the Ridge View runs, one in each of the first two innings. Josh Mohr was 1-3 and had a stolen base for the Raptors and Heath Clark had a double. Mohr and Clark each scored a run.
Winning pitcher Colin Christianson gave up four hits and two runs in seven strong innings of pitching for the Wildcat nine, and helped himself with a single. Taylor McElrath was 1-4 and scored a run, while James Wright was 2-3, including a double, and drove in a pair of runs.
The Ridge View Raptors are 1-1 on the season, 1-1 in the Western Valley Conference.
