The South O'Brien baseball team played two games in the Sioux Central tournament at Peterson on Saturday, winning one one-run game and losing the other.
In their first game, the host Sioux Central Rebels beat the Wolverines, 6-5, in extra innings, winning in the bottom of the 9th. Sophomore Sam Weber drove in three runs for the Wolverines. Senior Jimmy Callahan started on the hill for South O'Brien and went 8 innings, striking out nine batters. Adam Paulsen pitched the 9th and took the loss, giving up 3 hits, 3 runs and walking one.
In their second game, the Wolverines took on Storm Lake and took a well-played 2-1 win over the Tornadoes. The Wolverines garnered only 4 hits, but it was enough. Chas Bieri had two of the SOS hits, and Bret Puhrmann and Cole Ebel each had one. Zane Roberts went the distance on the hill for South O'Brien to notch the win, giving up one run on four hits, while walking two and striking out five.
