RAGBRAI - the (Des Moines) Register's Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa - is an Iowa tradition. It celebrates the sights, sounds, friends, food and hospitality of thewarm and friendly people of Iowa. Every year participants come from all 50 states, as well as several foreign countries, to take part in RAGBRAI.
This year's ride, the 39th annual ride, covers a 454-mile route that begins in Glenwood, in Southwest Iowa, on Sunday July 24, and concludes in Davenport, in southeast Iowa, on Saturday July 30.
For some riders, completing the 454-mile route will simply be enough of an achievement. Other riders look forward to the optional Karras-Rolfe Loop through Dana, and will celebrate that they completed 100 miles in a day.
