GALVA - The Ridge View Raptors improved to 6-4 on the season and 3-2 in the conference with a hard fought 4-3 victory over Kingsley-Pierson in Western Valley Conference softball actiion here on Tuesday.
Picking up the win in the circle for the Raptors was Gretchen Kistenmacher, who pitched all seven innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits, with five walks and six strikeouts.
Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors was Ashlynn Blenner, who went 2-3, scored two runs and stole two bases. Dana Hustedt also went 2-3 with a double and an RBI; Kaitlin Wulf went 1-2 with two RBI, and Kyra Hoffman had a big RBI in the sixth inning.
The coaches like the way the kids are working hard to improve on a daily basis and how the defense is starting to come together, though Coach Scott Phelps said the team still needs to become more consistent at the plate and swing at better pitches. Phelps also stated that the Ridge View pitchers need to continue to work at being more consistent.
The Raptor girls travel to Newell-Fonda for a non-conference game against a tough Mustang squad tonight, then return to Galva to host Western Valley Conference foe River Valley on Friday.
