ALTA - The number 3- ranked Alta-Aurelia Warriors successfully avoided a let-down following their big win over Newell-Fonda Monday by besting Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer, 12-2 in softball action here on Tuesday. The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Jordan Henningsen, Hilary Glienke and Audrey Winterhof each rapped out a pair of hits, with both of Henningsen's being doubles, driving in three runs. Lesa Turnquist went the distance in the circle, surrendering two earned runs on seven hits while striking out two.

A-A coach Dave Turnquist was pleased with his team's performance, saying

"We hit well and defended well to avoid the let-down. We had 10 hits and drew nine walks and were patient until we got the pitch we wanted."

Alta-Aurelia is now 9-3 overall and 1-0 in the Northwest Conference. They host Clay Central-Everly in Alta tonight in a non-conference tilt, and then Storm Lake St. Mary's comes to town on Friday for a conference game.
