A special Hazard Mitigation Meeting open to the public is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, June 13, in the Board of Supervisors Room in the Cherokee County Courthouse.
This Cherokee County multi-jurisdictional meeting is designed for citizens to assist in planning for disasters or hazards that could have a lasting effect on a community.
Discussion will include critical site recognition, determining local hazards, and reviewing the Iowa State Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The meeting will be an informational meeting to discuss what a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan is, how a community can help, and setting up individual meetings for each community in Cherokee County. Citizens are encouraged to attend and ask questions and seek answers.
