MMC girls win two recent games

The talented Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn softball team recorded two recent road victories, defeating Granville-Spalding in Granville 5-0, and beating West Sioux in Ireton 11-1.

Kayla Foresman got the shutout pitching win over Spalding, allowing just two hits and two walks, with seven strikeouts in seven inings of work.

Brandi Orr led the potent Eagle offense with a 3-3 game, two RBI and a run scored. Erica Dreckman and Jalyn Doeden each had a hit and RBI, and Foresman and Reagan McDaniel each had a hit and scored a run.

Foresman also got the win over West Sioux, giving up five hits, one walk, and striking out six in seven innings.

Foresman was 2-4 with three runs scored to pace the MMC batters, while McDaniel was 2-4 with two RBI, T. Holmes 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored, Jackie Holmes 1-3 with an RBI and run scored, and K. Theisen 1-3 with two runs scored.

The MMC girls host Orange City Unity Christian tonight in Cleghorn, and host the MMC Tournament in Cleghorn on Saturday.
