Area students graduate from Morningside

SIOUX CITY - Several area students were among the 255 students who received bachelor degrees from Morningside College during the college's 113th spring commencement exercises held Saturday, May 14.

The students are:

Kara Nelson, daughter of Jim and Sue Nelson of Cherokee. Nelson received a bachelor of arts degree with a major in psychology counseling. She graduated Cum Laude (with honor) for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Ivy Borcherding, daughter of Gary and Anne Borcherding of Cherokee. Borcherding received a bachelor of science degree with a major in business administration. She graduated Cum Laude (with honor) for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Shannon Chaffin, daughter of Brian and Teri Chaffin of Cherokee, Iowa. Chaffin received a bachelor of science degree with a major in elementary education. She graduated Cum Laude (with honor) for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Lynn Leonard, daughter of Wallace and Konnie Leonard of Cherokee. Leonard received a bachelor of science degree with a major in business administration.

Nancy Perrin, daughter of James and Brenda Perrin of Cherokee, Iowa. Perrin received a bachelor of science degree with a major in elementary education and special education. She graduated Cum Laude (with honor) for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Amanda Schwarz, daughter of John and Connie Schwarz of Cherokee. Schwarz received a bachelor of science degree with a major in elementary education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude (with great honor) for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.66 or higher.

Michele Witcombe, daughter of Michael and Debra Witcombe of Cherokee. Witcombe received a bachelor of science degree with a major in elementary education. She graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honor) for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.81 or higher.

Stephanie Schmidt, daughter of Russell and Laura Schmidt of Cherokee, Iowa. Schmidt received a bachelor of science in nursing degree with a major in nursing and psychology counseling.

Katie Gill, daughter of Greg and Lorri Gill of Meriden. Gill received a bachelor of arts degree with a major in psychology counseling.
