The Pilot Rock Daughters of the American Revolution contacted the trustees of the Cedar township cemetery, near Larrabee,in 2008, offering to donate $500 toward a Cemetery Directory.

At the same time, the Stanford Post #670 of the Larrabee American Legion also wanted to be a part of this worthwhile project.

The Larrabee Legion purchased the monument to the veterans, two park benches, flag poles, solar lights as well as made a monetary contribution.

Wayne Stewart, Betty Stewart, Jerry Bengtson, Bruce Amundson, Donna Amundson, Daryl Ducommun, Dianne and John Gordon made up the committee that worked on the project, which was recently completed.

Pilot Rock Sign Co. of Cherokee printed the burial list and diagrams, Mummert Construction was contractor for the structure, and landscaping was donated by local citizens.

This is an excellent example of how great things happen when people in a community work together.

THANK YOU ALL. I BELIEVE MONTGOMERY IS THE 2ND MOST POPULAR NAME IN CEDAR CEM., JUST A FEW BEHIND WILKIE. LOIS & I WILL BE BURIED THERE NEXT TO MY PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CEMETARY; WE MARVELED AT HOW WELL KEPT AND MAINTAINED IT WAS WHEN WE VISITED THERE LAST SEPTEMBER. I REMEMBER RECITING 'IN FLANDERS FIELDS' EVERY 'DECORATION DAY' THERE. EVERY CEMETARY OUGHT TO HAVE A DIRECTORY ON LINE AND ON-SITE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR COMPLETING THIS PROJECT.
