PAULLINA - The Ridge View Raptors softball team went 2-0 in the South O'Brien softball tournament in Paullina on Saturday, edging Sioux Central, 10-9 in the first game, and then beating the host SOS team in the second game by a score of 14-3 in five innings.
Picking up the win on the mound in the first game was Gretchen Kistenmacher, who threw six innings and gave up four earned runs on four hits, with three walks and three strikeouts.
Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors were Dana Hustedt, who went 2-2 with three RBI, Emily Schiernbeck, who clubbed two doubles and drove in two runs, and Ashlynn Blenner, who went 2-4 with one RBI.
Picking up the win on the mound yn the second game was Dana Hustedt , who
threw five innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on one hit, wahile walking one and striking out six.
Ashlynn Blenner went 2-4 with three RBI; winning hurler Hustedt helped her own cause with a two-hit, three RBI performance at the plate; Kaitlin Wulf also went 2-3 with three RBI, and Kayla Ronfelt went 2-3 with one RBI
The coaches were happy with the effort all day and how well the players "kept grinding it i out. "
Ridge View is now 10-5.
