CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley girls won their fourth game in a row with a hard- fought 4-2 victory over West Monona here on Tuesday evening. Mackensie Fitch went the distance on the mound for the Wolverines, allowing one earned run on two hits, while walking two and striking out one, and she also helped her team's cause at the plate with an RBI double.
RV's offensive leader was Jordain Volkert, who was 2-2 with two RBI and also scored one run. Kari Ludvigson and Abbey Miller added two hits apiece, while Jessica Funderman added an RBI single. On defense, Lexie Chester made a key running catch in center field to thwart a fifth inning Spartan rally
River Valley's record now stands at 6-8 on the season as they host Woodbury Central in Correctionville tonight in more Western Valley Conference play.
