ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia girls improved their Northwest Conference record to 5-0 with a 7 - 2 win over Sioux Central here on Monday. Kaitlyn McCormick went the distance for the Warriors, allowing no earned runs on three hits, while striking out three.

McCormick also had a 2 for 3 night at the plate, as did teammate Hannah Glienke, who drove in one of the A-A runs.

Alta-Aurelia hit the ball hard, but managed only five hits against a strong Sioux Central defense.

Warrior coach Dave Turnquist said his team's defense was sometimes shaky, but "we made the plays when we needed to."

Alta-Aurelia is now 17-5 overall.
