Little Sioux Summerfest fast approaching

The annual street dance during the Cherokee Little Sioux Summerfest will be held on Saturday, July 2 on East Main Street in downtown Cherokee and gates open at 7 p.m. and the dance will last until midnight.

This year's featured act will be the Dweebs.

The Cherokee Little Sioux Summerfest will be held from July 1 through July 4. On Friday, July 1 you can shop all day in Cherokee. The Methodist Church is hosting a lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $6 and is open to the public. From 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. All you dancers can enjoy the Merle Lake Orchestra at Western Iowa Tech Community College Conference Center for $5 per person and the will also be Karaoke at the Cherokee Bowl starting at 7 p.m. so gather up your old bowling team and enjoy the lanes.

On Saturday, July 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. their will be a Art and Craft Show and Farmers Market at Koser Spring Lake. There will be a bike ride held starting at 8 a.m. and will meet at Koser Spring Lake Park. At 11 a.m. All School Entertainment will be held at the Middle School and the All School Picnic will start at 11:30 a.m. A disc golf tournament at Koser Spring Lake Park will begin at 2:30 p.m., registration starts at 1:30 p.m.

At 7 p.m. gates open for the street dance and there will be a beer garden and food stand available with the concert starting at 8 p.m.

On Sunday July, 3 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. there will be a Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast at the KC Hall. From 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a free lunch and ice cream social along with games at the Lily of the Valley School House (see side bar for complete schedule). The Sanford Museum will be hosting the Country Jamm'n musical group from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the Meriden Evangelical Free Church Praise Band will be performing at outside the Cherokee Depot starting at 4 p.m. The Depot Renovation Inc. is hosting a freewill offering picnic following the concert. Come enjoy open house and tour the displays being added to the I.T."Biz" Parker's Northwest Iowa Railroad Museum and observe the Little Sioux Valley Model Railroad in operation

On Monday the Little Sioux Summerfest will conclude with an expanded fireworks show at dusk near Koser Spring Lake Park. The Bacon Aquatic Center will be having discounted rates of only $3 during July 1 through July 3 if you mention the Little Sioux Summer Festival.
