Back by popular demand this year is the Cherokee County Fair's Family Crafts Quilt Box Contest. The contest and display blocks will be at the Family Craft Building at the fairgrounds.
Area quitters are invited to enter the Quilts Block Contest. Rules for the contest are as follows:
Each contestant receives a packet containing four fabrics. All four of these fabrics must be used. Add no other fabric or embellishments (example: buttons, ribbons, beads, etc.).
Each block must be 98" x 76" unfinished. Your block will not be judged if the size is incorrect.
Blocks may be pieced, appliquéd. paper pieced or any combination of above techniques.
Blocks will be judged on creativity, best use of fabrics provided, and workmanship.
Blocks become the property of the Cherokee County Fair. Do not attach blocks to any backing.
After the blocks are made by contestants, they will be on display for the duration of the fair.
After the fair, the blocks will be made into a quilt to be sold at next year's Cherokee County Fair. All profits will be used to improve the Cherokee County Fair.
There will be a grand prize of $50, second place will receive $25, and third place will receive $10. Plus there will be other prizes.
Entries must be received by noon on July 6 in the Family Craft Building. Packets for quilt blocks may be picked up at Quilt & Kaboodle Shop in Cherokee, or the Village Boutique in Aurelia. Also, when you purchase your packet ($5 per packet) you will be refunded when you enter your block at the Family Craft Building at the fair.
