The Cherokee Youth Summer Ball Association is hosting a Fund-raiser Supper from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at the CYSBA Ball Fields on East Indian Street in the Sam Doupe Complex.
The fund-raiser is under way to raise $100,000 to enable CYSBA to extend the troublesome roadway on the north side of the ball fields east to North Roosevelt Avenue.
The road in the complex is narrow and bottle-necked with vehicles parking on both sides and with just one entrance and one exit onto East Indian Street. The proposed plan would complete the road as a one-way thoroughfare from East Indian Street north past the far north ball diamond, and then east to Roosevelt.
The project must be done professionally and requires engineering fees and a culvert due to the complex geographic nature and water drainage of the land. CYSBA is working with Lundell Construction of Cherokee, which is donating expertise and money to the cause.
The fund-raiser meal costs $5 per person and includes a pulled pork sandwich or hotdog, chips, drink, and a bar or muffin. Bowls of ice cream also will be available for $1.50 each.
All proceeds benefit the CYSBA Road Fund. Donations also are being accepted at Central Bank, in care of the CYSBA Road Fund.
