STORM LAKE - The Alta-Aurelia boys took on conference rival Storm Lake St. Mary's, rated sixth in the state in Class 1A, for the second time this season here on Monday, and for the second time the Warriors went home with a victory over the Panthers, this time by a 5-0 score.

Christian Weiland pitched another superb game for the Warriors, whose win gives them a great chance to win the Northwest Conference title outright. A-A coach Dan Wendel commented, "St. Mary's is a very good baseball team, and we were fortunate to get the lead early and never look back. Our guys came out and battled right from the start, and I thought we took control of the game early on."

Infielders Neil Marshall and Jaden Holton each had two hits and two RBI to pace the Warriors' attack against Panthers' ace Andy Drey, and leadoff hitter Marshall swiped three of the aggressive Warriors' total of seven stolen bases.

On the hill, the senior Weiland went the distance, and shut out the Panthers on four hits while walkng two and sending 14 St. Mary's batters down on strikes.

The win pushed the Warriors' season mark to 21-4 and 8-0 in the conference.
