FONDA - The 4th-ranked Alta-Aurelia girls took a quick 5-0 lead over host Newell-Fonda in softball action here on Tuesday, but the always-tough Mustangs, a well coached, athletic team, climbed back into it and made the final score a narrow 5-4 win for the Warriors.

The usually steady A-A defense committed four errors in the game, but kept their composure, and good pitching by Katlyn McCormick and good baserunning saved the day for the Warriors, who improved their season record to 22-5 and their conference mark to 7-0 with the win.

Audrey Winterhof and Lesa Turnquist each had two hits to lead Warrior hitters, and McCormick went the distance in the pitcher's circle, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits while walking one and fanning 10.
