MMC girls split four recent games

The talented Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn softball team split four recent War Eagle Conference games, dropping a doubleheader at Le Mars Gehlen by the scores of 5-4 and 8-3, and then beating Remsen St. Mary's 3-2, and West Sioux 7-1 in Cleghorn.

Kayla Foresman took the pitching loss in the first game at Gehlen, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits and no walks, with six strikeouts in seven innings.

Reagan McDaniel paced the Eagle batters with one hit and two RBI. Brandi Orr had two hits, and Erica Dreckman, Jaly Doeden and Foresman also had hits for MMC.

Stephanie Specht absorbed the mound loss in the second game at Le Mars, giving up five earned runs on 11 hits and two walks, with two Ks in six innings.

Doeden was 2-3 with an RBI and run scored, Orr had an RBI single, and Foresman had a double and run scored.

In the narrow win over St. Mary's, Foresman got the win, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and three walks, with three Ks in seven innings.

Specht had a hit and two RBI, Jackie Holmes was 2-3 with an RBI and run scored, Orr was 1-1 with a run scored, and Foresman stroked a double.

Foresman also got the pitching victory over West Sioux, giving up one unearned run on just one hit and one walk, with six Ks in seven innings.

Foresman led the offense with a 2-3 game, including a double and two RBI. Dreckman was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Kayla Theisen was 2-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, and Orr was 1-3 with an RBI.

MMC (18-6) plays at Hinton tonight and hosts Remsen-Union Tuesday night to end regular season.
