High water brings changes to Summer Fest

Friday, July 1, 2011

With the Little Sioux River out of its banks around Koser Spring Lake Park, Little Sioux Summer Fest organizers have been forced to make some schedule changes for this weekend.

The Art and Craft Show and Farmers Market scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled; the Bike Ride will now meet at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Cherokee Depot. The ride will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will be a route in the countryside, as well as a shorter route in town and the Disc Golf Tournament has been moved to the golf course at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute. Registration will still be at 1:30 p.m., and the tournament will still begin at 2:30 p.m.at the new location.

Fireworks will still be set off on July 4 at Koser Spring Lake Park, but organizers want to remind people that because of the water, people may need to reconsider where they park to watch the fireworks.
