Larry J. Allen, 62, of May City, passed away Saturday morning, July 2, 2011 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Graveside memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee. Rev. Paul Johnson of May City officiated. There was military rites at the graveside by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. Abiding by Larry's wishes, his remains were cremated. There was no visitation. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee was in charge of the arrangements. Larry was born on Oct. 11, 1948 at Albuquerque, N.M. to Scotty and Bobbie (Peeples) Allen. He graduated from La Mirada High School in California in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War being discharged as a Sergeant. Larry was married to Rhonda Klatt in 1986 in California. He had worked for the Motorola Co. in Arizona from 1980 until 1984. He had lived in May City since 1991 and prior to this had lived in Hollywood, Calif. for several years. He was affiliated with the St. John's Lutheran Church in May City. Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter: Heidi Allen-Hotz and her husband William of Cherokee, and their three children Jade, Felicity and Liam Hotz; a son Lanny Allen of May City; his mother Bobbie Allen of Sheldon; a sister Brenda Tobin and her husband Mike of Acton, Calif.; a brother Mark Boswell of Sanborn.
