Julie Hering-Kent, Executive Director of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, was elected as the Western Iowa Tourism Region's financial officer at the recent annual meeting in Dow City.
The 200-member organization works to connect communities, attractions and businesses interested in developing and promoting travel and tourism in Western Iowa.
The Western Iowa Tourism Region is funded by the Iowa Department of Economic Development, County Boards of Supervisors in the region and private memberships.
Regional Director Michele Walker stated that "The Region has a staff of two people so volunteer leadership and involvement is essential to achieving success. With Julie's expertise and experience we are looking forward to continuing to help communities, businesses and organizations throughout the 36-county area."
Regional bi-monthly meetings are held throughout the 36-county area.
