DES MOINES -- Renae Smith (Patterson) of Cherokee has been awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from AIB College of Business.
"You can be especially proud of this accomplishment," said commencement speaker Catherine (Kay) Smith, professor in the AIB Court Reporting & Captioning department. "You are in a very special group of people."
Professor Smith addressed the students about compound interest. She advised them to invest immediately, invest wisely, and invest for the long term.
"In addition to being a good steward of the financial gains you make in life," she said, "be an exceptional steward of the things in life that really matter."
She encouraged AIB's graduates to seek compound interest in their personal growth intellectually, physically, and socially.
"Our world craves servant leaders," said Professor Smith. "Think of all the ways you can give back to your community, your company, and your alma mater, AIB."
Three hundred seventy-five AIB graduates were recognized and honored for completing their Associate in Applied Science or Bachelor of Science degrees at the commencement ceremony held Sunday, June 5, at the Polk County Convention Center. A reception for the graduates, their family and friends was held following the ceremony.
