Dates set for Cherokee football camps, practices

The Cherokee Braves Youth Football Camps are scheduled to begin Monday, August 1 at the Washington High School practice fields.

Players in grades 3-6 will go from 4-6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, August 1-3; and players in grades 7-8 will also go from 4-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, August 1-4.

Registration forms are available at Roosevelt Elementary, Cherokee Middle School, and WHS. Forms are also being sent to the youth coaches.

The Braves high school camp will run on Monday and Tuesday, August 1-2 from 6-8:30 p.m. This will be time for physical testing, equipment check-out, and football fundamentals.

Two-a-days practice sessions begin Wednesday, August 3, at 8-10:30 a.m., and 6-8 p.m.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, August 6 team photos will be taken at George Hicks Field. The Sports Drink Scrimmage will be Friday, August 12 from 6-8 p.m., with Parents Meeting to follow.

Starting Monday, August 15, normal school footbhall practice time begins at 3:45-5;45.

Also, on Sunday, July 31, football seniors meet at 5 p.m. in the WHS LIbrary, with a picnic to follow at Koser Spring Lake Park.

The Braves face a 10-game schedule this season, with the first varsity game Friday, August 19 at Spirit Lake.
