The town of Quimby will be celebrating its quasquicentennial on June 29, 30 and July 1, 2012.
Plans are underway for the three-day celebration that promises fun for everyone.
Current plans include an antique tractor show and parade on Friday, June 29, as well as midway entertainment by Smith's Amusements and the always-popular Bingo stand. The Church food stand will be open for your enjoyment.
Saturday plans include a car show and shine, midway, Bingo, the Quimby 125 parade, all school reunion and a street dance. The beer garden will be open both evenings.
Sunday a community church service followed by closing ceremonies and a brunch will be held.
Chairman of the Quimby 125 committee is Terry Sargent. He along with co-vice chairs Deb Clark and Cathy Smith will head up the various committees of volunteers.
Information for the Quimby 125 book, which will continue forward from the publication of the Centennial Book, is being sought, Contact Shirley Perrett at 445-2674 or Rich Wych at 445-2015.
The Quimby 125 store is now open, with an assortment of t-shirts, hats, bumper stickers, coozies, and more available. The store will also be opened upon request, contact Carol Fiser, 445-2306; Patty Nelson, 445-2025; Andrea Urban, 445-2295 or Cathy Smith, 445-2208.
Chances on several raffle items are also available, including a Big Horn, Quilt, Centennial plate and an oil painting of the Quimby Railroad Depot, painted by "R. Grell."
Plan to attend the Quimby 125 fundraiser, which will be held at the Quimby Fire Station on Sunday, August 14,2011 from 5-7 pm. Enjoy a meal of Buck's Chicken, salads, desserts and a drink for a freewill donation.
