Auction items for this year's 'Rock the Block'

If you have never had a chance to attend Rock the Block this is the year to do so.

Saturday Aug. 6, will be the final fundraising event held by the committee of nine moms who are busy organizing for a record-breaking year.

Since 2005, the team has raised nearly $100,000, which has been proudly offered to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The event will be held rain or shine at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds, and the gates will open at 5 p.m.

The Cherokee County. Cattlemen will be serving burger or ribeye baskets and concessions and pizza will be available also. The Kids Zone will have plenty of fun things for your little ones; inflatables, a kiddie train, treasure tent plus they will be giving away two bikes, along with bingo and other fun events.

Talk a walk through area classic cars and don't miss the raffle building.

This year every prize is a grand prize, and participants can choose which drawing they wish to be a part of. Prizes to date are as follows, with more to be announced: an Apple ipad; a handmade queen size quilt; a 4th generation ipod touch; an X Box 360 dream package; a golfer's get-away to Sioux Falls; a family overnight get-away and play in Sioux Falls; a Family Day Trip to Sioux Falls' Top Attractions; an Omaha Zoo family package; a gas grill with accessories and margarita basket; a decorative wicker bench; a bartender's bucket with stand and drinks; a safari- themed baby gift package; ISU Cyclone football tickets; a Grand Falls Casino & Resort get-away package; a Cherokee Booster Package; custom embellished boutique clothing and bows for children; a mom's day off package that includes a massage, shopping and professional hair products; a Mom's day off #2 package that includes a shellac manicure, Soma hair products and shopping; a Ripstick skateboard with Ace helmet; a Hawkeye fan package; a girl's Razor scooter with matching Trek helmet; a boy's Caterpillar play Package; Tupperware storage set and a freezer full of home baked cookies; Minnesota Vikings Football tickets; a 2010 autographed Packers team ball; and a John Deere Pedal tractor and wagon.

Tickets may be purchased from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and all prizes will be awarded the night of Rock the Block. You need not be present to win.

After the family hours close, attendees may enjoy live music from Judd Hoos & the Budweiser Beer Garden from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Designated driving services will be available as well, and the committee encourages all to be responsible and plan ahead.
