"Artists working for Artists" organize and run A.R.T. This group works to expand the art of Northwest Iowa by educating the general public about the art and the artisans. This helps build the local markets for art, while, at the same time, increasing tourism in the area.
A.R.T. provides the art-hungry individual with the opportunity to travel around the countryside of Northwest Iowa to view spectacular works of art created by many talented Iowa artists.
This year's A.R.T. will be from Friday, September 30, to Sunday, October 2, 2011. The hours of viewing for the A.R.T will be Friday from 4p.m. to 8p.m., Saturday from 9a.m. to 5p.m., and Sunday also from 9a.m. to 5p.m.
The road trip is a free, at-your-own-pace, self-guided, open studio tour. Individuals are encouraged to use a printed brochure to assist them in their touring. The brochure contains directions to lead a traveler directly to the homes of many Northwest Iowa artisans.
Maps and brochures are available for viewing at artisansroadtrip.com. The website also contains samples of the works of the participating artisans.
There is much to be seen on this year's A.R.T., so don't hesitate to stop in at the Sanford Museum to preview the fabulous art on the August Art Wall. If you are further intrigued after viewing the art at the museum, feel free to grab a brochure from the museum and head out on your own art-viewing adventure in the 2011 A.R.T.
