'Walking for the cure' begins on Friday

The 15th annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Cherokee County is nearly here. The Cherokee County Relay For Life (CCRFL) thanks everyone for their role in making this event possible and for the public's role in its success as a corporate sponsor.

The CCRFL would like to invite you or a representative of your company to be present for their Opening Ceremonies, so that the CCRFL can publicly recognize you and thank you for your support. The opening ceremony begins at 7 p.m., so please meet at the main open shelter house by 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Relay For Life is a great family event. Linda Sones, Corporate Sponsorship Chairperson, invites you to join the CCRFL for a portion of Relay and enjoy the fun activities.

A Community Barbeque will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you have a Survivor in your life who you would like to invite, Relay organizers would love to have them join them.

Survivor registration begins also at 5 p.m. and they can receive their Survivor T-shirt at this time. Following the Opening Ceremonies, the Survivor Lap will start.

The luminary ceremony will begin at dusk, and is a very emotional event. Luminaries are lit while the names of survivors and those lost to cancer are displayed throughout the evening on the Wall of Hope and Remembrance.

Come and join the CCRFL for as long or as little as you would like.

A world with less cancer is a world with more birthdays. Thank you for helping the CCRFL imagine a world with more birthdays and for making it happen
