Duane Fee, a resident of Walnut Creek, California, passed away July 15, 2011 at

the age of 83.

Duane was born in Cherokee on July 5, 1928, to the late James and Ethel

Fee. He was a graduate of Quimby High School, Iowa State University, and

Arizona State University. Duane married the love of his life, Carol (McGee) in

1950, and served in the Army during the Korean War.

In 1957, Duane moved his family to California. He taught mathematics and

science for 43 years at Acalanes High School and Diablo Valley College, and

received presidential recognition for his excellence in teaching.

He was a volunteer for the Veteran's Hospital in Martinez, California, and

will be forever remembered for his love of history, his story telling,and his enjoyment of travel.

Duane is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol; his four children, Glen

Fee (Debi) of Eugene, Ore.; Kelly Peterson (Gregg) of Sacramento, Cal.; Linda

Bailey (Robert) of Thousand Oaks, Cal.; and Diana Mason (Jeff) of Alamo, Cal.; ten

grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren,who will all miss him dearly; and

his brothers, Russell Fee and Keith Fee; and his sisters, Alice Hoeppner and Ethel Warrender.

A Celebration of Duane's life will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m.

at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, 1801 Lacassie Ave., Walnut Creek, California, with a reception to follow. Interment with military honors will be at Sacramento Valley

National Cemetery, Dixon, California.
